    Dear City Council,
I am in favor of the City hiring a full time engineer dedicated to assisting in getting the ugly poles and above ground electrical lines removed.
District 8, that is the gateway to The Pier, and the most visited of our City, the ugly poles mar the wonderful views and vistas of our City.
The poles give Manhattan Beach the image of a backward town with poor infrastructure.
North of 15th Street the the poles are gone. Wow! The weight of the poles is removed and beauty comes.

Based on recent history, our city needs additional support to get the awful wires underground. It has been well over a decade since any significant undergrounding has occurred. I am concerned, however, that simply adding an engineer won’t help move undergrounding along because it appears we are lacking any leadership to make this happen. The undergrounding process is way too cumbersome and it is just not reasonable to say that homeowners must make it happen. The Council should make this happen.
