First, thanks for not putting up holiday decorations at the beginning of Nov. When commemorations are put up too soon or too long, they lose their impact and meaning. Opposed to putting up flags continuously from Memorial Day to July 4 for the same reason. If too expensive, cut back on the the number while not losing the impact. You don't need 2 flags on every lamppost. Also that Juneteenth is in there. Engage businesses/districts to put up flags/remembrances. Look to the Memorial Grove aethetics, and fill in the ugly hedge gaps. Where's the Freedom Tree? We are overdoing memorial placements. Be discrete and focused. Does our city really need a Salute the Troops, a Veterans banner, and now a "Fallen Heroes" monument/Military Wall? We seem to do a lot just to do something, and in M.B., nothing can be done that can't be overdone, or over-reacted. Also, "9/11" is officially known as "Patriot Day".
