I am in favor of outdoor dining and have attended many of the Committee meetings.
Charging only $3 per sq ft of public space they utilize when the rate they pay their landlords for internal space is $5 to $11 per sq ft is not reasonable. Why should the taxpayers subsidize these businesses?
I understand some businesses may be struggling and we all benefit from a vibrant downtown; however, it is not the taxpayers' responsibility to ensure the success of private business establishments.
