Safety: I would like to see a traffic study, specifically MB blvd west of Manhattan Ave, to include during the summer, holiday season.
I do not believe the City has considered the total cost or outdoor dining.I also believe there will be additional costs not shown, like CSC which is needed during the summer months, cleaning and trash and safety. I think, there will a need for year long CSC if there is outdoor dining. Please factor in additional costs.
How will issues associated with outdoor dining be measured and at what interval and by whom?
Before this moves forward I would like to better understand the priorities of the city. There is Lot 3 which has to be rebuilt, and out door dining and another large expenditure I believe. What are the priorities of the the City and if this project is delayed what are the financial implications?
I oppose the proposed outdoor dining due to (1) associated cost to implement, (2) favors eating and drinking establishments to the detriment of businesses, many of which are women-owned, that more broadly support MB residents’ needs (I.e. clothing, services, medical) thereby creating an incentive to reduce diversification of businesses and reducing opportunities to locally owned small businesses, (3) would reduce parking and does not provide sufficient parking relief or alternatives, (4) would exacerbate traffic through narrowed streets, (5) would create lopsided appearance through sidewalk widening on only one side and, again, benefit businesses on that side at the detriment of businesses on the opposite street side, which creates competitive disparities and disincentivizes new businesses from entering MB. The plan as presented presumes the City has budget for a frivolous project when it is looking under rocks for revenues to support resident necessities such as infrastructure.
