Current residents of 1400 block of 12th st are opposed to proposed 6+ story condo development. Safety is our highest priority issue.
Already it is difficult to maneuver safely on a narrow street leading to 3 schools, Polliwog Park, sports fields, pool, and dog park. Street is already often impassable - crowded (mayhem at peak usage times) with pedestrian children with and without adults, ebikes, strollers, delivery or work vehicles, etc. People in a rush especially at school drop off and pick up times can cause unsafe conditions. We have had children hit and many near misses on this street. The intersection of 12th and Rowell is downright dangerous. We don’t want a child killed on our street. Adding more hidden driveways, additional traffic, and more people will only increase accidents. Emergency vehicle Access can be difficult as only 1 vehicle can progress down the street at a time.
