    Dear City Council,
The (DBPA) does not support placing a Ferris wheel in the lower pier parking lot for America’s 250th Anniversary.
The MB Pier and the Strand are iconic landmarks. Temporary carnival-style rides would feel out of scale with the area’s character and detract from the scenic, safe, and high-quality environment that residents and visitors expect.
The lower pier area is a natural funnel for people entering and exiting the beach, accessing the pier, and moving toward downtown.
The parking spaces required for such an attraction would reduce beach access and significantly impact parking for DTMB businesses.
The area surrounding the pier is already one of the city’s most crowded locations during the 4th of July weekend. Keeping the lower pier lot clear supports safety, accessibility, and the overall enjoyment for residents and visitors.
We urge the City Council to preserve the character, accessibility, and safety of the pier, beach, strand, and DTMB. Thank you.
