I object to an Ordinance Amending Chapters 9.72 and 14.40 of the Manhattan Beach Municipal Code related to the definition and regulation of Parking Pads which would likely increase costs and harm residents of the Dune section, to wit: (1) Dune section has more metered parking than Tree Section and Hill Section - e.g., 38th to 45th metered parking on the strand, Bruce's Beach parking lot, metered parking along Highland in El Porto, and the parking structure at Rosecrans and Highland; (2) Enforcement will further strain public resources which would then require future budget supplemental; (3) viable alternatives include adding a 4 hour max for metered parking to increase rotation of users expanding beach access plus add metered parking on all of Highland, Manhattan Ave, expand Bruce's Beach parking, and metered parking around Bruce's Beach Park; (4) Illicit marijuana use in public is common, increased pad use by visitors invites pollution, crime, and more confrontation, not less.
