City Council Reorganization:
a) History and Discussion of Mayoral Rotation
b) Selection of Mayor
c) Selection of Mayor Pro Tem
d) Recognition of Outgoing Mayor Montgomery
APPROVE
I fully support Suzanne Hadley as the next mayor of MB! She was elected by the people and should not be denied this chance just because a few people don't agree with her conservative beliefs.
I fully oppose skipping Suzanne as mayor. She was fairly voted into city council by MB residents and deserves her fair chance to act as mayor. The residents of MB also deserve to see her act as our mayor as they voted for her. It is ridiculous that this is even an agenda item and you are even listening to a huge minority of residents who don’t agree with Suzanne. We all don’t agree with a lot of people but that doesn’t mean we can just deny them of their position. Please approve Suzanne as mayor
I oppose any disenfranchisement of MB voters and am opposed to changing the long-standing tradition of Mayoral Rotation. Suzanne Hadley was elected by Manhattan Beach residents and deserves to be mayor on Dec 1 st 2020.
Hadley is a person of integrity but also a person willing to express her values and views. Whenever I see the terminology "reorganization" I become suspicious of a political power play from those who wish to cancel out another's views.

There is a campaign to deny Council Member Hadley her rightful place as Mayor of MB. This is wrong, as it has been the tradition of MB to rotate the mayor from among the council members every nine months. This rotation helps keep special-interest politics out of our (supposedly) non-partisan city council. To deny the voters who elected Hadley is undemocratic and undermines the integrity of our elections. Hadley should serve as our next mayor
It has come to my attention that some would like to “reimagine” the mayoral rotation. The timing corresponds with Suzanne Hadley taking her rightful turn to assume the position of mayor. In seeking to deny her that right, you are usurping the will of those who elected you. This is a bad idea that should be abandoned, and Hadley deserves a direct apology from those who have abased the collegiality of their office by suggesting it. She should serve as the next Mayor
This illegitimate & unethical Item needs to be SCRATCHED from the agenda. Councilwomen Hersman whom abused her power as mayor needs to bow out quietly as her “heir apparent” is defeated at the poll. Mayor Hadly has our support as well as her colleagues, the 3 CC members she endorsed and won the elections.
I am opposed to changing the long-standing tradition of Mayoral Rotation. Suzanne Hadley was elected by Manhattan Beach residents and deserves to be mayor.
There is no legitimate reason to change the current mayoral rotation precedent. Elections weren't postponed, seating date for newly elected is not changing and mayoral rotation should continue as planned.
Catering to the very loud but yet still minority cancel culture in town that opposes, demonizes, and attacks anyone whose opinions differ than theirs is a cowardly act by the city to even consider. Maintain the normal mayor cycle and give Hadley what she deserves.
I am in favor of having Mayor Montgomery's term as mayor extended during this extraordinary time. Richard Montgomery has been calm, unifying voice on the council this year. Although the mayor is an honorary position, the mayor can and does exert a strong influence on the cohesiveness of the council and therefore our community.

Don't listen to the fringe radicals and children of the corn who want to upset a 50-year tradition and inject toxic partisanship into the Council chambers simply because they don't like Suzanne's views. She has wide community support, as evidenced by her resounding plurality of votes in last year's election, far more than 2nd place Stern who now wants to disenfranchise Suzanne's voters. The radicals claim to care about the community but they can't muster the votes at the ballot box. Wonder why?
Suzanne Hadley’s friends and loyalists are sending boilerplate emails which they pass among each other
to cut and paste. However, those opposed to the mayor pro tem rotating to mayor, care about MB and have written individual letters which are heartfelt and meaningful. We have examples and quotes to support the movement that Suzanne Hadley is too divisive to be mayor during these difficult times. Me tooism is not a philosophy on which to govern.
Suzanne Hadley should passed over for our next mayor. She is an embarrassment to MB. She has famously stated that it is not the role of government to protect the public health and that rules should be followed due to her not personally knowing anyone who had died from Covid. These views are outrageous. She has disqualified herself to be a member of city council let alone to be elevated to mayor-ceremonial or not.
